A day for Yasuyuki Sato (Doctoral Program)

I came back from a business trip yesterday, so I return to my normal schedule this morning.

I walk upstairs to the 5th floor with members of the group I belong to. In the conference room of the pediatric ward, I learn about how the medical conditions of the patients have changed during my trip. I check medical records to confirm medical care policies.

I do the rounds of my patients in the ward. Sometimes I perform medical procedures, including the collection of blood samples.

Once a week, I provide outpatient care in the morning. On this day, I’ve returned to my study room to read papers for reference.

I prepare specimens necessary for research.

I have a pleasant chat with other members in the room over lunch. It’s time for a short break.

Depending on the schedule of the pediatric ward, I give dialysis or perform surgery in the afternoon. Today, I move to a seminar room in order to listen to presentations by other members of the group in the presence of a supervisory doctor. The conference for all pediatricians is held once a week, starting at 5 p.m. or later.

I make a round of visits to patients in the evening with the same members as in the morning. I check the therapeutic results.

I again return to my room to study. After working as a clinician, I made up my mind to study at graduate school for research on pediatric renal diseases. I keep studying every day to become a pediatric nephrologist.
