Repeatedly making new discoveries

Basic Medicine Course

Mao Nebuka

After graduating from the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at another university, I enrolled in the doctoral course, experiencing participation in “real” research for the first time in my studies. Currently, I am researching the role of the central serotonergic nervous system during states of fear.

It is known that the neural circuit from the nucleus of the origin of the serotonin nerve to the hippocampus is important during states of anxiety and fear. I focus on the hippocampal serotonergic nervous system and focus on behavioral pharmacological experiments using mice.

I consider myself lucky to be able to do research every day supported by the many people around me. Daily research is the experiencing of an unfolding series of new discoveries. I am looking forward to the day when we can share this pleasure.
