Hokkaido University Graduate School of Medicine applied to participate in a program named the “Promotion Plan for the Platform of Human Resource Development for Cancer” supported by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, this project succeeds the “Training Plan of Human Resource Responsible for Cancer Care” project.
Participation is in cooperation with Sapporo Medical University, Asahikawa Medical University, and Health Sciences University of Hokkaido. We were selected for the program in March, 2012. The objective of this program is to train outstanding researchers dedicated to cancer research by providing the advanced specialized education required for the medical treatment of cancer, including the “Innovative Research Program for Cancer Medication”, the “Innovative Radiotherapy Program, the “Innovative Program for Basic Research into Cancer”, and the “Training Program for Experts in Medical Physics”.
Together with other medical schools in Hokkaido, we endeavor to train health care professionals engaged in the medical treatment of cancer and to raise the awareness of cancer treatment in the general population for the five years of the program starting in 2012.
